FOODMISSION launches pilot testing of its digital platform, inviting citizens to become agents of change

Nov 2, 2026 | News

The EU-funded FOODMISSION project is entering a new phase, inviting citizens across participating European countries to test its digital platform and contribute to shaping healthier and more sustainable food systems.

Since its launch in January 2025, FOODMISSION has been exploring what influences everyday food choices and what encourages or prevents people from adopting more sustainable practices. Through research, co-creation activities and Transformation Labs (T-Labs) across Europe, researchers, citizens and other stakeholders have contributed to the development of the FOODMISSION Platform, which is now moving into pilot testing.

The platform combines educational resources, interactive challenges and gamification to help users learn about sustainable food practices and explore practical ways to improve their everyday habits. Participants can also track their progress and contribute to citizen science activities, supporting research into food-related behaviours.

Pilot testing offers citizens an opportunity not only to explore the platform but also to help shape its further development. By sharing their experiences and feedback, participants will help project partners identify areas for improvement and make the platform more relevant, engaging and accessible to diverse communities.

This approach reflects FOODMISSION’s ambition to engage citizens as active agents of change in the transition towards fairer, healthier and more environmentally friendly food systems.
