What does it take to turn sustainable food solutions into everyday choices?

Together with Like a Pro, we brought representatives from research, academia, business and support organisations together at a joint event in Slovenia. The event provided an opportunity to discuss how healthier and more sustainable food choices can be made easier in everyday life.

During the event, we presented the FOODMISSION approach to supporting long-term changes in food practices through consumer behaviour research, food literacy, gamification and digital tools. LIKE-A-PRO complemented this perspective by presenting its findings on diverse protein sources and opening a discussion on the factors influencing consumer acceptance of alternative protein products.

The discussion highlighted several common messages:
◾ Providing information alone is not enough – practical skills and engaging learning approaches are also needed.
◾ Digital tools and gamification can make food education more interactive and accessible.
◾ Younger generations can play an important role as agents of change.
◾ Food choices are shaped not only by individuals but also by families, social environments and the wider food system.
◾Data generated through digital tools can offer valuable insights into consumer behaviour and support better-informed decisions.

By connecting research, innovation and real-world experience, the joint activity demonstrated the value of bringing together different projects and perspectives to address complex food-system challenges.
